Exploring Shenzhen: My Summer Camp Experience

Introduction

As a high school student, I always look for opportunities to expand my horizons and experience new things. That's why I decided to join the Shenzhen English Summer Camp during my summer vacation. I was excited to explore a new city, make new friends and improve my English skills. In this article, I will share my experience and insights from this amazing summer camp.

Discovering Shenzhen

Shenzhen is a modern and vibrant city located in Southern China. During the first few days of our summer camp, we visited some of the most iconic landmarks of Shenzhen such as the Window of the World, the Shenzhen Bay Park and the Shenzhen Museum. We also had the chance to explore some traditional Chinese culture by learning taichi, playing Chinese instruments and practicing calligraphy. The highlight of the trip was climbing the Wutong Mountain which provided a breathtaking view of the entire city.

Learning English

The main purpose of the summer camp was to improve our English skills. To achieve this goal, we attended intensive English classes every day led by experienced teachers. We focused on improving our reading, writing, listening and speaking skills through various activities including debates, presentations, and role-plays. The teachers also encouraged us to apply our English knowledge to explore and understand the city better. Through these classes, my English proficiency improved significantly, and I gained more confidence in using English in real-life situations.

Making New Friends

One of the most memorable aspects of the summer camp was the new friendships I made. There were over 50 students from different countries attending the camp, including Spain, Malaysia, Russia, and Korea. I have never been in such a diverse group of people before. We spent time exploring the city, participating in team-building activities, and playing games. We also shared our cultures and traditions with each other. I learned so much from my new friends and it was fascinating to see how much we had in common despite the differences.
